I really enjoyed this book, also gained some personal insights! This is a different kind of love story for an older audience, which was refreshing for a change. The two main characters give a depth to the story with their personal insights and past history that happens rarely in most reading of this sort. I don't believe this is for everyone, but then nothing ever is. Made me reflect, laugh and come to tears a few times. If you are looking for something with some depth, this is it, if you are looking for the usual light romance, might want to check out something else...Product details

Risk of Change edition by Kathleen Collins Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
RISK OF CHANGE is a thriller as well as romantic, sexy, even dark at times. Alcoholism, being a parent and grandparent, nature descriptions, scenes of lesbian life and older women were lovely and authentic. This book is filled with important life issues with such veracity and reality, I am in awe of the stunning writing. And don't get me wrong, RISK is a terrific read--suspenseful, stimulating, descriptive in so many ways--it's a splendid book with engaging stories all converging. I wanted the book to never end.
Risk of Change, published by Spinsters Ink and edited by Katherine V. Forrest is an beautifully written book about two women in their sixties. Meg and Joanna meet via letters. Meg is a published writer who lives on Long Island in what was once a summer beach cottage. Joanna lives in Portland and is a successful artist. Both women are intrigued enough through phone calls, letters, and visits that they agree to move in together. What happens next is the sometimes painful joining of two lives.
Readers are able to see give, take, and compromise as these two very likeable women work to find harmony in their new world of togetherness. And, of course, life happens the new wing isn't built quickly enough, family intrudes into their space, and through all of the disorder, creativity is stifled. I feel each of us can identify with Meg and Joanna. They are not perfect people, and yes, communicaton breaks down. But, the gift of this writer is that each woman tries, and as the story beautifully unfolds, the reader is welcomed into their struggles, their happiness, and the beauty which surrounds them. Risk of Change is a very satisfying read!
The Risk of Change is a luminous tribute to love - gay or straight.
A lyrical lesson in acceptance under a variety of challenging circumstances. A multilayered delight!
Risk Of Change is about a couple in love dealing with life's challenging circumstances. That this is a Lesbian couple does not seem to be the main point of the book but is of interest.. This engaging book should be enjoyed by the general readership.
This is the first specifically lesbian novel I had read. I appreciated the author's honesty and ability to give expression to the complexities involved in any lesbian relationship and specifically to that involving older women.
This is a powerful, beautiful novel that quickly becomes difficult to put down. It has strong characters (strong meaning vivid, as well as strong internally), memorable scenes, and suspense that builds effortlessly. This is a moving work of art from a very fine writer!
It is so nice and refreshing to read about about lesbians who are not in their 20s or 30s., rich, fabulous etc. I could relate to the real problems that these characters encountered. Although at heart a romance, the added mystery of threat is an added bonus. Liked this book because it is different from most that I have read. I wish there were more books about older lesbians
